Dark days on the A1....

I'm sitting on the A1 as the sun comes up, if indeed there is a sun on this dull dreary day. It is 7.00 in the morning and i've been driving since 4.00. I stop briefly to take my ease, to rest a while before I continue on to York where my business takes me. But this is a desolate place and i've already eaten the last of the egg and tomato sandwiches (a Ragged Rambler favourite) The sandwiches that were meant to last me all day. And now the crows are gathering on the power lines just like they did in Hitchcock's The Birds. Their caws are like the cackling of old crones. Even tea, hot from the flask cannot cheer me; I will find no peace here. This might well be a very ragged ramble indeed.

  1. My Dear Mr. Many Coats,

I do hope you are okay Sir! It all seems so... gloomy. And to have consumed all of one's egg and tomato sandwiches before the wake of day - well, that is a most perplexing condition to find oneself in! I do hope a placemark will be added to the Ragged Ramblers' Google Map to commemorate this difficult experience.

    Chin up Mr Many Coats!
    Huzzah!

  2. My Dear Munro

To be sure it was a harrowing journey and one that will be commemorated via our most wonderous Google map. It is however with great joy and happiness that I can tell you that the hard Ramble was made worthwhile and indeed most pleasant by the discovery of a recently reconstructed Mayor's house in York, now called Barley Hall. I shall be blogging about its rough hewn timbers this very day...
