Going Underground - Subterranea Britannica

I have just discovered this very interesting site, Subterranea Britannica, and thought I'd share it with you.  It is an exploration of human made underground places in the UK (and with a few from overseas as well). It features a very useful 'Locations' section which maps subterranean structures by city and county. Fascinating!

  1. Thanks very much for this tip. It has instantly put me in touch with a cave (Baron,s Cave) which I have been trying to remember ever since I saw it in a magazine, years ago. The walls are covered in undecipherable inscriptions. Great site.

  2. Sir, this is marvellous to say the least. Our learned society would do well to investigate and record for posterity, some of the treasures with our new tangled picture taking contraptions, and, dare I suggest it, even partake in some treacle tart eating!
