Bulwer-Rant's Bluebell Wood

© Ragged Ramblers 2014

As Our Reader will know, in 2011 The Ragged Society of Antiquarian Ramblers were bequeathed a very significant collection of work by the artist, contrarian and founder member of the Society, Dawson Bulwer-Rant. This is a charming piece of, what we believe to be, Blickling Great Woods, depicted in late Spring with a splash of bluebells. Intriguingly, on the reverse of this work, there is a note in Bulwer-Rant's distinctive hand that reads,
"Trees - smug!"

We hope that you enjoy this watercolour as much as we do.

  2. Dear Pure Liquid Evil,

Thank you for taking the time to comment here. Whilst it may indeed be that 'terrible things' occur, are you not also captivated by the beauty of this painting. Does it not transport you imaginatively to a crisp Spring day, full of bursting buds and the promise of new growth?
